Icon developed an award-winning solution aimed at predicting the risk of an accident across the UK's rail crossings.

The web-based risk management system was designed and developed in close collaboration with Network Rail, the owner and operator of the UK's rail infrastructure.

It is a vital piece of software for rail network companies, as it can:

  • improve safety at level crossings and reduce the risk of fatalities through effective risk management
  • ensure investment decisions result in the greatest improvements in safety across the network
  • review the impact of decisions regarding safety across the level crossing network based on objective and quantitative & quantitative information
  • assess the safety of all level crossings, including automatic crossings, manually controlled gate crossings and footpaths
  • allocate resources effectively to prevent accidents based on the level of risk provide costed risk mitigation plans
