At Icon we are aware that in many ways we are measured both as a company and as people by how we act and what we contribute. To that end we are committed to running the company in an ethical and sustainable manner, and to contributing to good causes where we can. As part of this approach, we have supported a number of charities and charity events over the years.
Icon makes donations to many worthy causes each year - often these tend to be smaller charities where our donations can make more of a difference, though we often sponsor people in aid of the larger charities as well. In order to formalise this, we have created the Icon Foundation – a non-profit entity, entirely funded by Icon, with the sole purpose of distributing donations to good causes. Our commitment is to contribute 1% of our gross profit each year to the Foundation.
Applications for funding from the foundation can come from any source, but mainly these are charities with which our customers or staff have a connection. We match-fund any sponsored event which our staff engage in, and also, when appropriate, are happy to sponsor customers and suppliers charitable activities.
Recent donations from the fund include:

A donation to this very worthwhile cause helping soldiers across the country returning from conflict zones.

One of our directors did a sponsored walk in aid of Epilepsy Action - the largest member-led epilepsy organisation in Britain, acting as the voice for the UK's estimated 602,000 people with epilepsy.

We regularly sponsor participants in the London to Brighton Bike Ride – for which all donations go to The British Heart Foundation.
A donation to support the summer fair at a local primary school which specialises in children with Autism.
Finally, while the commitment to contributing to worthy causes is a serious one, it can often be directed in somewhat less serious ways. Last year Icon sponsored one of our staff taking part in “Movember” – growing facial hair in order to support The Prostate Cancer Charity. Perhaps not our finest moment!
