Who We Are

Being able to share success is not a matter of chance....

Icon Solutions was originally born out of the Integration Services department of Strategic Thought Limited, a company founded in 1987 as software development specialists with a focus upon the integration of mission-critical enterprise applications. Towards the end of the 1990s, Strategic Thought moved into risk management and became "The ERM Company", with the Active Risk Manager (ARM) as their core product. Following on from this, in 2008 the Strategic Thought board decided to divest a number of departments that were no longer core to the ERM vision.

From that, the management team within the Integration Services department formed Icon Solutions and invested in building upon the teams established heritage as a "niche" consultancy, made up of the highest calibre individuals with combined experience spanning the business, technology and IT delivery disciplines. We believe that this combination of skills distinguishes our team from those of traditional consultancies who have a bias towards one discipline or the other.

So whilst we like to boast the technical ability of our IT gurus, they are all aware of not doing technology for technologies sake. Instead they understand the business rationale for change and can articulate the benefits and pitfalls of technology solutions accordingly. Likewise, our project and programme managers are fully conversant with what it takes to deliver complex IT solutions, and can create and execute plans which help both the business and IT teams navigate this complexity.

By focusing these skills within the highly complex world of the Financial Services Sector we are able to identify and instil best practice and help customers understand and react to the ever changing Banking landscape.

As our reputation has flourished through a growing portfolio of successfully delivered projects, so the team has also grown. And whilst we like to think the team is growing beyond 'small', our growth is always mindful of the niche heritage which makes Icon different, and we think special. These differentiators include:

  • A recruitment policy which targets only the very best - we cannot risk 'devaluing the currency'.
  • An assurance that a small Icon team is not landed as a beachhead for an army of consultants to arrive - that it not our policy, and indeed our size means we have to be there to work alongside our customer's teams, not to replace them.
  • A commitment to help our customers grow their own capability levels - a reliance on Icon after delivery does not reflect a successful legacy.
  • An ability to deliver the highest calibre individuals at an appropriate price - we do not have a complex hierarchy nor numerous 'partners' inflating the day-rate.

We take on IT projects ranging in size from a few days of expert consulting to managing and delivering multi-year multi-million-pound programmes of work. Based out of offices in Wimbledon, we work with customers from across the UK, and worldwide.
